It’s always a treat for me to hear a favorite writer read from their work and talk about the process of writing – I hope I captured that experience with this post.

Didion is one of the great chroniclers of the late 20th century, so I always find her prose enthralling. So glad you’re thinking of reading her two memoirs.

You may not have written an actual review of “Blue Nights”, but your description of the book and quotes from Ms. Didion’s speech/interview told me everything I need to know about the book.

Several times I’ve been tempted to pick up The Year of Magical Thinking but I’ve always resisted and I’m not sure why; facing death and dying is as much a part of life as is anything else. Now that I’ve read this post I’m eager to read both “The Year of Magical Thinking” and “Blue Nights”.

How wonderful that you were able to attend this event and, through your writing, bring it to life for those of us not in attendance. Thanks!
